Sunday: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

The Senior / Youth Center serves as a meeting place for local senior citizens.  It offers a wide variety of social, recreational, and educational activities daily for the benefit and enjoyment of Highland Park seniors.

The following are some of the many services and activities available at the Senior Center:

 

  • Refreshments: Coffee, tea, and light refreshments are available throughout each day at our hospitality table. Drop-in visitors are always welcome.
  • Outreach Services: a Department on Aging outreach worker is available to meet with clients to assist in answering questions and providing information on benefits and services (including, but not limited to P.A.A.D., Medicare, utility assistance, and home health care), to identify needs of seniors and determine how best to meet those needs. Home visits can be arranged for those who are unable to visit the Department on Aging office.   • S.H.I.P. Counseling (State Health Insurance Assistance Program): Free, confidential counseling for Medicare beneficiaries provides up-to-date, unbiased information to assist insured in making decisions related to health insurance and health benefits.
  • Recreational Classes and Activities:  Seniors who register with the Senior Center (free of charge to Highland Park residents) gain access to a wide range of recreational offerings, from bingo and card games to exercize programs, painting and woodworking classes, special celebrations and more.  See link on Home page of this website.
  • Free In-Town Transportation: Highland Park seniors (age 60 and older) are welcome to use our local transportation service to reach in-town destinations.  This service is available Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:45 PM.  Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance by calling 732-819-0052 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.   Our bus is equipped to carry wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistance devices.  Please inform the dispatcher of any special needs when making reservations.

Sunday Transportation is available from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, but is limited to trips to and from the Senior Center and/or trips sponsored by the Office on Aging.

  • Out-of-Town Medical Transportation:  This service is for persons with medical appointments outside Highland Park, and is available Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  To guarantee space, reservations should be made at least 1 week in advance or as soon as your medical appointment is known.


  • Special Trips:  Trips to grocery stores, farm markets, shopping malls, and other places of interest are planned several times each week
  • Other Services Include: Friday breakfast program, on-iste internist, podiatrist, blood pressure checks, massage therapy and postal service.
