TAX ASSESSOR

Thomas Mancuso 732-819-3787

Office Hours: Monday 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. & Monday evenings by appointment only

The Assessor's primary function is the assessment of property values for the purpose of taxation. The philosophy of the governing body has always been one of actively seeking every possible tax deduction or savings for the residents. As such, Highland Park is fortunate to have a special tax abatement program approved by the Mayor and Council in 1992, which encourages homeowner and commercial establishments to maintain and improve their properties, yet abate any potential tax increase. This is a unique program designed to afford homeowners the opportunity to improve their home without concerns of increase in taxes for up to five (5) years. The maximum limit of the abatement is $25,000 in assessed value. If you are planning on renovations, additions or other improvements to your property, stop in the office to pick up an Abatement Application Form and submit it as soon as the work has been substantially completed.

Other forms of tax relief offered for eligible homeowners include: Veterans, Widows of Veterans, 100% Disabled Veteran, Senior Citizen, Surviving Spouse, and Disabled Person. Applications for these deductions are available in the Assessor's Office during normal working hours. Call 732-819-3787 for applications and/or assistance in filling out the forms.
