Water Works Association offers these water conservation tips.
Water meters are read and
bills are mailed each quarter (the dates of the readings, which are
done by PSE&G, are given on the back of your bill). The Borough is in
the process of installing remote water meter registers which can be
read from outside the house for all residents. If you do not have one
already, please call the Water & Sewer office for an appointment.
Things to Remember:
- Any internal leak, however small, can add to several gallons of wasted water. Repair all leaks
promptly to avoid high bills.
- The borough is involved with a Water Main Cleaning & Lining Project to provide better water quality,
increased pressure and to improve fire hydrant flows.
- Road Opening Permits are required anytime road excavation is done. These permits can be obtained from the Water & Sewer Department
- Sanitary Sewer Project-the borough is involved in finding excessive inflow and infiltration of water which gets into our sewer system.
Problem areas are being grouted, tele-viewed and pipes are being replaced.
- If you experience sewer back-up, quickly call the Water and Sewer Department during normal office hours or the Highland Park Police at
732-572-3800 after regular hours and holidays, before calling a sewer cleaning contractor. We will inspect the borough's main and let you
know if a cleaning contractor is needed.
