Dear Resident,
Every year on April 22nd, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement at a mass rally held in 1970. The onset of the global coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation or reconfiguration of the many local celebrations,
teach-ins and the mass mobilization planned for the momentous 50th Anniversary of Earth Day occurring this year.
Taking urgent action to protect life on Earth is more needed today than ever. We urge every resident of Highland Park to participate in one of the many online forums that have been organized to commemorate Earth Day … and recommit our energies to protecting and sustaining our one, precious home!

A three day celebration follows the planning of
Earth Day 50 in person, before the COVID pandemic. Activists, performers, thought leaders, and artists will come together for an empowering, inspiring, and communal three-day livestream mobilization.
Sustainable Jersey is offering four weeks of free virtual content, including online educational sessions, social happy hours, and 30-minute talks on a variety of topics.
Join Smithsonian online for an
Earth Optimism digital event that will showcase stories of actions that frame the conversation and demonstrate that success is possible.
