Our modern annual Thanksgiving is a national holiday that many have been taught was modeled after a “thanksgiving” that occurred in 1621 between the Wampanoag and Colonists at Plimoth. This presentation details what “corn” is to the Wampanoag, the Lenape, and the English, the types of “corn”, archaeological evidence of "corn" in the 1600’s and intertwines that with how and why there is a connection between the Wampanoag’s harvest of corn, the 1621 harvest feast and the origins of our Thanksgiving.
